Is the tech field over saturated?
The tech industry has been steadily ramping up over the better half of the last decade – and shows no signs of slowing down. The New York Times reports that from 2010 to 2017, the NYC tech sector added 53,000 jobs (65\% job growth). There are more than 7,000 startups in New York City and over 100 startup incubators.
How is the job market for programmers?
Job Outlook Employment of computer programmers is projected to decline 10 percent from 2020 to 2030. Despite declining employment, about 9,700 openings for computer programmers are projected each year, on average, over the decade.
Why is the programming market so saturated in the US?
The reason the programming market seems so saturated is that there are scads of people who can do the coding equivalent of dissecting frogs, but few who can perform software neurosurgery. In the real world, programming is the easy part of working as a software engineer.
Is the software development industry saturated?
It is not saturated by software programmers who know how to document their code, maintain it, integrate and deliver ruggedized solutions and not spaghetti code which crashes as soon as a button is depressed with the built-up excuse: “you were not supposed to…” Same difference between a caregiver and a surgeon.
Why is computer programming seen as a money sink?
Programming and IT in general is seen as a money sink by corporations and not as the modern operational backbone which it actually is. In the pursuit of reducing costs without impacting revenue corporations have successfully lobbied the government to allow very large amounts of both offshoring and immigration to allow job saturation to occur.
Is software development an oversaturated field?
Yes and no, but mostly no. In my experience, software development being oversaturated is an illusion, simply because the barrier of entry is so low compared to other high paying professions. In order to become a Doctor or Lawyer, the road is unarguably long and hard.
