Why do people wear facades?
Facades serve a primary purpose and that is to make us appear more appealing to others. They allow us in some ways to get our needs met from those in our lives, by friends, family, lovers, colleagues or other people whose attention we want to attract.
What is a personality mask?
A personality mask is an external identity that you can “wear” that is different from your internal self. It’s a set of traits that are manufactured rather than organically grown, usually in response to family dynamics, social pressure, or workplace culture.
Why is it so difficult to maintain a facade?
Many people put up a facade. By doing so they can attempt to keep their deepest personal traits behind it. It is very difficult to maintain a facade as it cracks and releases some of that information that was being held behind it. Once information about you begins to get released, it can not be restored.
Not wearing any type of facade would mean that I would be showing my true, unedited, unfiltered, real self in all social situations — and that wouldn’t go over so well for a multitude of reasons.The way I see it, we ALL have to wear a social facade (at times) in People put on a facade to gain social acceptance and to avoid rejection.
People put on a facade to gain social acceptance and to avoid rejection. If we expose our true selves, then we expose ourselves to true rejection. If we never expose our true selves, then we never expose ourselves to true rejection.
What happens when your personality changes?
If your personality is changing, but you find yourself able to still take part in and enjoy your normal daily life, everything is likely alright. What concerns experts is often what happens to someone’s social life, and motivation to do regular activities.
