Thanos was inspired by Darkseid, as his appearance was intentionally beefed up so he’d look more menacing like the DC Comics villain. Thanos was beefed up by Marvel Comics in order to look more like Darkseid. While Thanos wasn’t based on Darkseid, he was certainly inspired by him.
