Is Hidan still alive underground?
Given the conditions in which he was defeated by Nara Shikamaru, Hidan is still alive. He is buried in the forest area accessible only to the members of the Nara clan. He was defeated by Shikamaru as a revenge to the death of Shikamaru’s sensei, Sarutobi Asuma.
Why does Hidan stab himself?
Once he was done toying with the opponent, or if he wanted to kill them quickly, he impaled himself through the heart, killing them and relishing in intense satisfaction. Despite its effectiveness, the curse had many requirements, and could be a slow technique to employ.
Does Hidan ever get out of the hole?
It is impossible for Hidan to crawl out of his hole. His body was destroyed. When he was captured by Shikamaru, his body was exploded using exploding tags, leaving only his head. So, having his body digging the hole would be impossible.
How did Hidan escape?
Although Kakuzu managed to escape from Shikamaru’s shadow, Hidan was left under Shikamaru’s control, and was forced to fight his partner. When Kakuzu was apparently killed by Kakashi Hatake, Kakashi prepared to finish Hidan as well, but was quickly repelled by a surprisingly alive Kakuzu.

Hidan. Hidan is immortal, so he wasn’t technically killed; he was blown to bits by Shikamaru and buried while still alive (though disassembled), and even vowed to eventually pull it together (pun) and get revenge on Shikamaru.
Does Hidan have regeneration?
Hidan doesn’t seem to be able to regenerate—he’s just immortal. We see this in Naruto Shippuden Episode 79 when he gets beheaded by Asuma: His body didn’t regenerate his head, nor did his head regenerate his body.

Hidan’s main weakness is that once he activate the ceremony of death technique he must remain within the circle of the seal he is using. Once he is removed from the seal, his technique which connects his body to the opponent is severed.
What are Hidan’s powers?
Immortality. Hidan’s primary ability was his inability to die, a result of extensive experimenting with the Jashin religion’s various jutsu. His immortality allowed him to survive numerous fatal injuries, and almost any form of dismemberment; he even retained his ability to speak after having his head cut off.
