Text during appropriate times. Unless the world is on fire, don’t worry about texting coworkers outside of business hours. Let them relax. If you need to say something before you forget, jot it on a note or email them so they’ll see it the next day.

If you have any doubt, ask your supervisor. I would not recommend asking him for his number, though. Do realize that I’m a “guy” and might not know as well as you, but my suggestion would be to give him a piece of paper with *your number* on it, and a smile and “Hey, Call Me Maybe!” He’ll call you or he won’t.
