Sirius is the son of Orion and Walburga Black, great-grandchildren of Phineas Nigellus Black (and themselves second cousins). Her sister Narcissa (another of Sirius’ first cousins) married Lucius Malfoy, himself a renowned Dark wizard instrumental to Voldemort’s rise.
