Can you drive to Myanmar?
Myanmar is not open to tourists. Myanmar’s entry restrictions mean that foreign travelers cannot enter at this time. Tourism is not permitted. Foreigners with compelling reasons to travel must get entry permission from the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

How can I cross over from India to Myanmar?
You can cross over from India to Myanmar directly via road from Imphal, the capital city of the state of Manipur. The two connecting villages are Moreh (on the Indian side) and Tamu (on Myanmar’s side). You can hire a local taxi from Imphal till Moreh and then cross over to Tamu by walking.
Since, Myanmar shares almost 1600 kms with India, which is spread across the four states –Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland.
What is the status of India-Myanmar Friendship Highway?
The first 160 km stretch of road is known as India-Myanmar Friendship Highway and you can see a small yellow slab at the bridge announcing the same. The deadline for completion has been missed once. It was in 2015 and now the revised one is in 2020. India is supposed to implement two projects on the IMT Highway and both in Myanmar.
Who can enter Myanmar now?
Now, anyone having a passport and valid visa can enter Myanmar through the two designated land borders (I will talk about them later in the post). This agreement became operational on August 8, 2018.
