Do we understand infinity?

Do we understand infinity?

We can understand the concept of infinity and it is not particularly difficult. We all have an intuitive notion of the future as being infinite and we usually think of space as being infinitely divisible. That’s it. There is nothing more beyond that to understand about the infinite.

Is undefined and infinity the same?

What is the difference between Infinity and Undefined? Undefined means, it is impossible to solve. Infinity means, it is without bound.

What is infinity equal to?

A number greater than any assignable quantity or countable number (symbol ∞). But this definition says infinity is “any” number that can’t be assigned quantity. So, infinity is actually anything bigger than “numbers” – infinity could be anything.

The most important thing about infinity is that: -∞ < x < ∞. Where x is a real number. Which is mathematical shorthand for. “negative infinity is less than any real number, and infinity is greater than any real number”. Here are some more properties: Special Properties of Infinity. ∞ + ∞ = ∞.

How do you know if Infinity is infinite?

Just think “endless”, or “boundless”. If there is no reason something should stop, then it is infinite. Infinity is not “getting larger”, it is already fully formed. Sometimes people (including me) say it “goes on and on” which sounds like it is growing somehow.

What is an example of Infinity Plus One?

Example: ∞ + 1 = ∞. Which says that infinity plus one is still equal to infinity. When something is already endless, we can add 1 and it is still endless.

Can infinity stop getting larger?

If there is no reason something should stop, then it is infinite. Infinity is not “getting larger”, it is already fully formed. Sometimes people (including me) say it “goes on and on” which sounds like it is growing somehow. But infinity does not do anything, it just is.
