Obviously not. But if you regularly watch anime when you have free time, you most likely have an average to low IQ. Intelligent people are curious and get bored easily, and are always trying to learn new things. Mindlessly watching silly shows is not an interest of intelligent humans.
Why do people think anime is more intelligent than Western media?
Mostly because anime does a better job catering to the needs of smart people, while too much Western media panders to the Lowest Common Denominator. Consuming anime will not raise your IQ. Discussions surrounding it may help you become better at media analysis, but this applies to any form of media.
Why do you like watching anime?
Watching anime is a fun activity by itself. But when you watch: Comedy. Parodies. Or anything similar, it teaches you how to have fun, chill, relax and not take life too seriously. A life without fun is no life at all.

It is suitable for both short-term and long-term watchers. You can easily find something to cure half an hour of boredom or an entire weekend.
