Is deadlift really necessary?
If you you are training with weights to build your muscles and you do not like deadlifts, don’t do them. Deadlifts are not necessary to build great leg muscles. Are deadlifts useless?
The deadlift is useless for back mass Used by powerlifters and other athletes, the floor deadlift is good for one thing and one thing only – strength. Deadlifts have never built any appreciable amount of muscle on anyone. Not only does it not build muscle mass, it’s just too risky to do.
Why do football players not deadlift?
In plain English, the best football players are not built the best for strength, and vice versa. To be the best at football, most positions require long legs for fast field moves and running speeds. These very same long legs make deadlifting a problem (possibly) and make squats a huge problem (almost certainly).
Will deadlifting make me bigger?
The deadlift does a good job of bulking up our superficial back muscles. The deadlift trains our hips through a deep range of motion, making it perfect for building bigger glutes. These are the muscles that hold our backs straight as we lift the weight up. The deadlift is even better at working our deep back muscles.
What happens if I just do deadlifts?
If you only do one thing, you are likely to overtrain those muscles, which can result in injury. It’s also incredibly dull and boring doing only one thing, so odds are you’d slack off or quit training after a while. A good strength training workout works all major muscles and includes variety over time.

Is it possible to deadlift a PR without fatigue?
Sure, hitting a PR isn’t always textbook perfect, but some people deadlift with poor form even if they’re not fatigued or using heavy loads. They do it all the time because they haven’t learned to set up properly and use the right muscles.
Should you deadlift with lazy mechanics?
If you want to deadlift, do it with solid mechanics. Don’t get lazy and “just rip it.” You might still make the lift and move lots of weight, but you won’t be building muscle optimally. Body mechanics are what decide which muscles get stimulated the most.
What tempo do you use for deadlifts?
When I personally do deadlifts, or have my clients do deadlifts, a controlled eccentric tempo is always used. We do that by lowering it like an RDL (pushing the hips back) until the bar passes the knees. At that point, we bend the knees until the bar is on the floor.
