See full answerAccording to the Food and Drug Administration, “if you are taking blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder, you should mention it to the provider who is giving you your COVID-19 vaccination” (sources – Moderna, Pfizer , and Johnson and Johnson FDA fact sheets). Like with any injection, there is a risk of bleeding and bruising at the injection site, but there are currently no known serious effects related to getting the vaccine while taking a blood thinner. You may be recommended to apply firm pressure to the injection site for at least 5 minutes to reduce bruising. While it’s clear that some people lie out of expedience or spite, most of us value the truth. We genuinely desire to accurately understand the facts and help others to do the same.

What are some things we do not know we don’t know?

There are things we do not know we don’t know. Something similar can be said about our beliefs. There are “true truths”–things we believe are true and genuinely are: The world is (roughly) round, not flat. Losing weight requires that we exercise more and eat fewer calories.
