The Republic of Molossia has quietly been an official, independent, sovereign country inside Nevada for more than forty years. The president, His Excellency Kevin Baugh, and his wife/first lady declared their property a micronation right in the heart of Dayton, Nevada, all the way back in 1977.

Why does Molossia exist?
It was under a communist system for a short period of time. Molossia’s origins came from a micronation childhood project, called The Grand Republic of Vuldstein, founded by Baugh and James Spielman while teenagers on May 26, 1977. Baugh has claimed that he based the idea of Molossia on the film The Mouse That Roared.
