What is a gum pocket?
When gum tissue begins to separate or pull away from the teeth, it leaves a larger space between the tooth and gums where harmful bacteria can thrive. At this point the space is called a “pocket.” Inflammation is present, and the once healthy sulcus has become deeper because it is diseased.
What is peritonitis teeth?
Periodontitis (per-e-o-don-TIE-tis), also called gum disease, is a serious gum infection that damages the soft tissue and, without treatment, can destroy the bone that supports your teeth. How do you push a tooth back into place?
Try to put the tooth back into its socket right away. Gently push it in with your fingers, by handling the crown, or position it above the socket and close your mouth slowly. Hold the tooth in place with your fingers or by gently biting down on it.
What to do if tooth is pushed in?
If possible, try and put the tooth back into its place yourself. If that is not possible, you can place it in a cup of milk, or in your mouth, and in either case go to the dentist immediately. There a splint will be made to hold the tooth in place until it heals.
How do you fix a displaced tooth?
A displaced tooth can also be pushed forward, backward, sideways, or rotated. The sooner the dentist can splint or realign the tooth with orthodontic brackets and wires, the easier it can be brought back into proper alignment. Trauma significant enough to cause tooth displacement can also lead to pulp injury.
What do you do for a displaced tooth?
First and foremost, displaced teeth should be gently nudged back into position. If the trauma is severe, the tooth movement could be associated with bone injury. Don’t force the tooth back if it won’t move easily; instead, let your dentist do it for you.
