Which Conan books are best?
Best Conan story? There are several good ones, but “Beyond the Black River” is in a class by itself. Beyond the Black River, People of the Black Circle, and Tower of the Elephant are the best in my opinion. Beyond the Black River is definitely in a class by itself as O Ruairc states.

Definitely a cool setting however. Luckily most of the stories are very short and can be read in an afternoon, so I’d suggest just getting started with some of the original novels (other authors wrote more stories after Robert E. Howard’s death, and they’re not considered as good).
