NOTHING we have done earns our salvation. Out default position is eternal separation from God if we fail to accept what Jesus freely offers, based on His accomplishments only.

What does nothingness look like?

“Nothing” isn’t like anything. It’s as inconceivable as figuring out what the edge of the universe looks like — which is likely impossible, because it either somehow doesn’t exist, or our normally-conscious human brains aren’t wired to comprehend it. The human brain (apparently) can’t understand nothingness any more than it can understand infinity.
