What are schizoid tendencies?
Schizoid personality disorder (/ˈskɪtsɔɪd, ˈskɪdzɔɪd/, often abbreviated as SPD or SzPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency toward a solitary or sheltered lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness, detachment and apathy.
How do people with Schizoids have a relationship?
While schizoid personality disorder is hard to treat, there are some measures loved ones can take to help a person with this condition:
- Avoid Judgment. Listen when a loved one shares information about their disorder and try to understand where they’re coming from.

Do borderlines get along with schizoids?
Borderlines are attracted to emotionally unavailible people in general. Many borderlines have impulsivity issues and can be extremly intrusive, wich the schizoids will be turned off by. Some borderlines who are very high functional (the more reserved, withdrawend and quiet ones) could have functional friendships with schizoids.
Why do schizoid individuals tend to prefer isolation?
Donald Winnicott explains this is because schizoid individuals “prefer to make relationships on their own terms and not in terms of the impulses of other people.” Failing to attain that, they prefer isolation.
How can a schizoid individual improve his/her social functioning?
Frequently, a schizoid individual’s social functioning improves, sometimes dramatically, when the individual knows he is an anonymous participant in a real-time conversation or correspondence, e.g. in an online chatroom or message board.
How do schizoids meet people?
Masturbation: Some secret schizoids may engage in masturbation or become addicted to pornography. This allows them to experience sexual gratification without seeking out another partner. Meets at bars / online dating: An easy way for covert schizoids to meet people is at bars and/or via online dating sites.
